We here at the TDWA could not be more sympathetic to the all the Toronto dogs that are cooped up this winter. It’s too cold to go on long walks, and staying home is kind of boring.
So Cindy’s post this week about the importance of canine mental stimulation, really got us thinking! She says, “…exercising our dogs’ minds can be almost as effective as physical exercise in tiring out our dogs. Consider of how fatigued you can feel after spending a day on a mentally challenging task, sometimes it can be more tiring than heading out for a run.” This applies to dogs recovering from illness or surgery and those stuck inside due to inclement weather.
We’ll cut to the chase! The TDWA is giving away two great prizes!
First prize is a Manners Minder (valued at over $150) to help one lucky winner beat the winter blahs! A manners minder is an electronic device that works your dog’s mind and rewards good behavior by dispensing food/treats. It was invented by one of our favourite behaviourists, Dr. Sophia Yin. You don’t even have to be home for your dog to enjoy the benefits! (Look how much Julie, from Rover Achiever loves her MM!)
Second prize is a Safemade Gimme Gummy. Exercise your dog’s jaw while providing hours of entertainment. You can stuff it with cookies, or better yet, bake a cookie right inside!
Submit photo(s) of your dog(s) looking bored to firstname.lastname@example.org by February 7th.
On February 9th we’ll post our favouites on the TDWA Facebook page. On February 13th, the photo with the most “likes” wins first prize and the photo with the second highest number of “likes” will receive the runner up prize.
